Profit and capitalism are fine. predatory practices are not.

In House Pet “Insurance” Program – By the Month

Posted on March 14, 2019

“Your services are prepaid monthly so the Annual and preventative medicine is “free”. It’s been like that since I worked there way back in 1994.

Thing is, we just marked everything up 30% and took 15% off and spread the expense out, and benefited from the attrition of getting rid of dogs, forgetting shots and never taking advantage of the program. For those that did, it was basically financing pet health at a 15% premium which was painted as a 15% discount.

That’s “chicanery”. I lasted 9 months in my employ in a corporate environment and left as quickly as I could while ‘profit-driven-marketing-and-protocol‘ was preached to us.  Do I have a problem with profits? Capitalism? Being remunerated for taking the time to get a BUNCH of education? Nope. But (thank goodness) I was exposed to a young Vietnamese man (a very good friend) who told me “Just do good honest work and the profits will just happen.” and (Tung Ngo) he was absolutely right. I can sleep at night. There is PLENTY of business for an honest man.

Marking something up 30% and taking 15% off and spreading it out over a year: Chicanery.
